The Second concert of Asher Fisch’s first year as WASO’s principal conductor. Interestingly Till Euenspiegel was a piece Paul Daniels (the previous principal conductor of WASO) conducted in his opening season with WASO back in 2009. All in all another Romantic program – and Romantic is what they do best.
Brahms (Academic Festival Overture) – Elgar (Introduction and Allegro) – Richard Strauss (Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks) – Tchaikovsky (Symphony No 4)
featuring Asher Fisch conducting, Paul Wright (violin), Zak Rowntree (violin), Paul McMillan (viola) and Rod McGrath (cello)
7:30pm, Friday 14th March 2014
Perth Concert Hall
(second concert on Saturday 15th March 2014)

Event Description by WASO
“Principal Conductor Asher Fisch leads WASO in Tchaikovsky’s powerful Fourth Symphony, from its intense opening to exhilarating finale. Tchaikovsky wrestled with the agonies and ecstasies of fate throughout his life but never more dramatically than in this orchestral masterpiece. WASO string musicians feature in Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro while Strauss’ witty symphonic poem depicting the adventures of Till showcases the whole Orchestra’s virtuosic brilliance.”
